Burning Books

Toto is doing his history homework about the rise of the Nazis in Germany.

“Mum,” he asked, thoroughly puzzled. “Can you explain this to me?”

“Sure, honey,” answered Mum, “What is it?”

“Well, am doing a homework about the Kristalnacht, and it says here that the Nazis were burning the books of the authors they did not like.”

“Yes they did, that was a very wicked thing to do, what don’t you understand?”

“But Mum, if they did not like them, why did they burn them?” asked Toto, nonplussed.

“So that no-one could read them anymore, of course…”

“But Mum, that makes no sense, when I burn a CD or a movie, it is because I like it and want to give a copy to my friend!”
