John the Writer had a big crush on the waitress from the coffee he used as his writing base. Every day, he sits there, writing pages upon pages, gazing at her every now and then for inspiration. Yet, every times she meets his gaze, she looks away and darts back to the kitchen.

Writing he knows how to do, but he is at a loss to work up the courage to ask the waitress out. One day, having written all morning a scene featuring his main character, a shameless womanizer, picking up women after women in a bar, he decides to follow her in the kitchen and try his luck.

“Would you like to go out sometimes?” he asked her lamely.

“Sure, I thought you’d never ask, ” answers the waitress.

Gobsmacked and at a loss for an answer, John gapes at her. Finally, overcoming his surprise at her answer, he says

“But why have you been avoiding me all this time? You walked away every time i looked at you.”

“Oh,” said the waitress, “I thought you wanted more coffee.”
