Sometimes saving the person you love can cost you everything.

There is one person that ties Oliver Richter to this world: his wife Kai. For Kai, Oliver is the keeper of her secrets.

When her telepathy spirals out of control and inundates her mind with the thoughts and emotions of everyone within a half-mile radius, the life they built together in Manhattan is threatened.

To save her, Oliver brings her to the hometown he abandoned—Butternut, Wisconsin—where the secrets of his past remain buried. But the past has a way of refusing to stay dead. Can Kai save Oliver before his secrets claim their future?

An emotionally powerful debut, The Six Train to Wisconsin pushes the bounds of love as it explores devotion, forgiveness and acceptance.

Kourtney has created an emotional story with characters that draw you into their world. Kai struggles to deal with her telepathy–and in a town like Manhattan, who can blame her for wanting to get out? The voices and feelings invading her head have become too much. To try to help his wife, Oliver takes her to Butternut, Wisconsin, but the secrets of his hometown might be too much for both of them.

The book drives forward with both action and romance, as the backgrounds of these two characters unfold and their relationship becomes more clear and sucks in readers along the way. It was a gripping story that had me always wanting more and needing to know what would happen to these characters. A few times, especially nearing the end, the character’s thoughts slow down the action a bit-just as a reader begins itching to know more, but overall, Kourtney skips the fluff and filler, creating a tight and focused story.

This book was a semifinalist in the 2012 Amazon Breakthrough Novel Award competition, and it shows in Kourtney’s attention to detail and ability to weave a gripping story. I’m looking forward to Vol. 2.

Recommended for those who enjoy paranormal, mixed with psychological thriller, and romance. And it is an adult book, you’ll definitely want to keep that in mind
