A chance to get published by “The Saturday Evening Post”

A contest to get published by “The Saturday Evening Post” is currently opened to writers for short stories of 1500 to 5000 words.

Authors can submit their work from here  for $10 per submission.

Entries must be character- or plot-driven stories in any genre of fiction that falls within the Post’s broad range of interest—one guided by the publication’s mission: Celebrating America, Past, Present, and Future. “We are looking for stories with universal appeal touching on shared experiences and themes that will resonate with readers from diverse backgrounds and experience,” says Joan SerVaas, publisher of The Saturday Evening Post.

Please note that they stipulate that only previously unpublished work (excluding personal websites and blogs) is accepted. This brings us back to our previous post about whether a story is acceptable in a contest requiring previously unpublished work. Before submitting your story, browse through the various element covered by the expression “unpublished work”.

Deadline for submissions is July 1st, 2012.
