How to Avoid Writer’s Block by Someone Who is a TAD Clueless
Repost from Brit Blaise
Is it really writer’s block or are you just spending too much time on Facebook?
Is it really writer’s block or are you frequently discovering a new series to watch on NetFlix? (I have to choose between starting the second season of Lost Girl or turning on the finale of season 1 [Episode 13] again which means I could probably still write while I listen.)(I chose Episode 13, which is sooooo heartbreaking for one particular character.)
Is it really writer’s block or “Is that a squirrel?” In my case this is not just a cliched joke. My yard is filled with squirrels and chipmunks and the dogs go crazy when one of them tries to use one of the 5 bird feeders in front of the 3 windows which stretch across the majority of the wall, almost floor to ceiling. (Which is often.) Maybe sitting in front of scenic windows is a bad choice for a writer. I’ve recently added very big plants inside around me to keep the dogs from crowding in, but I can’t keep them out of the leg hole in the desk. Seriously?!
Or perhaps, it’s not a wise idea to write in the familyroom where distractions can abound? Especially so if you live in a house with 7 rooms in the basement and 10 on the main level. And this a even more of a hindrance when one has come to HATE living in such a massive mausoleum. I’ve come to the conclusion that taking up residence in a motorhome or travel trailer would help avoid writer’s block. If anyone has employed this method…how did it work for you?
Is it writer’s block or am I going to blame it on chemo-brain?
It’s too hot. It’s too cold. I’m hungry. I’m thirsty. The dog just puked…
Whatever…just get over it and write!
My goal today is 1,500 words. Anyone want to double-dog dare me I can’t do it?
