Amazon Publishing New Recipes

New Amazon publishing hire Larry Kirshbaum, former chief executive of the Time Warner Book Group spearheads Amazon NY first major acquisition by snapping up the rights to bestselling self-help author Timothy Ferriss’s new book “The 4-Hour Chef.”

Ferriss authored the New York Times bestsellers “The 4-Hour Body” and “The 4-Hour Workweek”, how-to manuals “to rapid fat-loss, incredible sex and becoming superhuman” and to “escape the 9-5, live anywhere and join the new rich”. According to amazon, “The 4-Hour Chef” is about transforming the way we cook and eat. The book is scheduled to be published next April in print, digital and audio formats.

This latest move by Amazon Publishing is likely to worry  mainstream publishers already wary of Amazon dominance of the market.

3 Million Sons of Neptune for October 2011

Disney Publishing Worlwide (EPW) announced its largest ever First Print Copy publication. 3 million copies of “Sons of Neptune”, the second volume of Rick Riordan series “ the Heroes of Olympus will be ready for sale at the book launch scheduled for October 2011.

BBC Worldwide Magazine Change Owner

A licensing and contract publishing deal secured by Exponent, owner of online media jobs service Gorkana and former owner of the Times Educational Supplement, grants it the right to publish BBC-branded titles including Top Gear and Radio Times, while it is also taking over all Worldwide’s non-BBC-branded magazines. The deal covers a total of 33 BBC magazines and the sale figure is £121m.
