Harry Potter’s Birthday Brings Presents To 15 Public Libraries

By Patricia de Hemricourt

15 years ago, my then 9 year old son brought home his new best friend Harry Potter, who was soon adopted by the rest of the family. Now that both Harry and my son have finished school, and their lives led them to different paths, the world reminds us of their past friendship by rewarding Harry Potter’s most faithful guardians.

Though the sales figures of “50 Shades of Grey” reputedly caught up or passed those of Harry Potter, it is doubtful that such a birthday party will be thrown for its characters in a decade and half.

So sales figures are not the only element of success. The joy brought by Harry to millions of children who grew up with him and to those children’s parents, cousins and neighbors remains unrivaled, regardless of the number zeroes parading on the sales figures.

So, without further ado, let’s give Potters’s guardians their due and wish Harry a wonderful fictional birthday!
