Micro-Libraries – The Book Both or Phone Booth Libraries

 

As both books and phones are turning mobile, print books and phone booth are joined in an unexpected fashion. From Phone Boot to Book Boot, the readcycling movement is spreading, and that is without cycling 🙂

 

The first Book Booth was born in Westbury-sub-Mendip inSomerset,Englandwhere an old phone booth was recycled as a way to preserve British historical landscape. The Book booth holds over 100 different titles and gave birth to to the concept of “Readcycling”

Following suit, the Clinton Community Library inNew Yorkhas created the Book Booth — a re-purposed, vintage, English model K8 telephone box that now exists as a community book exchange. It even lights up at night! Creators encourage “readcycling” and like most micro libraries, request that if you take a book you leave one as well.

 

Readcycling is now moving up the time line and reaching more recent version of phone booths as these one in New York for example.
